Drivers

  1. A current, valid Driver’s Licence is required and must be produced.
  2. Drivers must exhibit a zero alcohol reading immediately prior to the event. Testing will be conducted by Officials.
  3. Seat belts must be worn and properly adjusted during competition.
  4. Drivers shall wear suitable footwear during competition. Thongs or sandals are not permitted.
  5. Passengers are not allowed in the Ute. (Only the driver is to be in a competing vehicle).
  6. Any Ute failing to keep within the defined competition area whilst competing will be automatically disqualified. Any contact with hay bales will result in disqualification.
  7. Both driver and passenger doors to be kept ‘unlocked’ during competition.
  8. Competitors are not to have any part of their body protruding from the Ute during competition. Automatic disqualification.
  9. Drivers will be asked to line up in competition order just outside of the competition arena and await further instruction from Officials.
  10. Officials will give each driver a quick debrief before entering the arena, the horn will go and the driver will start their circle work.
  11. You will be required to stop after ONE MINUTE – When the horn sounds again the competitor is to stop immediately and leave the arena at 5kph (walking pace), prior to the next competitor entering the arena.

Competition / Pit Area

  1. No alcohol is permitted in the Competition Pit Area during the conduct of this event.
  2. The maximum speed of vehicles within the Competition Pit Area is 5kph (walking speed).
  3. All Officials must stay behind safety barriers during competition
  4. Official Photographers must all stand directly behind safety barriers.
  5. Qualified medical personnel must be in attendance.
  6. NSW Rural Fire should be on site and in attendance with full knowledge of the competition.
  7. Entry/Exit point into the Competition Area to be clearly marked.

Competition Vehicles

  1. Only vehicles which pass scrutiny will be allowed to compete.
  2. Utes must be registered and registration papers in the vehicle.
  3. All Utes will be checked for safety by Officials. Anything that may be dislodged during competition must be removed, (anything loose in/on tray, tool boxes must be removed)
  4. Competition and demonstrations are restricted to one vehicle at a time
  5. Only one Ute is allowed in the competition arena at any one time. The competing Ute must have left the arena prior to the next Ute entering.

Grounds

  1. Grounds will be wet down by the Officials before and between runs (as required) to eliminate dust.
  2. The Circle Work Arena will be marked out using use hay bales. Utes will have to stay within the hay bales (and not touch them) during the competition.
  3. Emergency services should be on standby including NSW Rural Fire Services and medical personnel.

Judging Criteria

  1. The judge’s decision is final.
  2. The event will be judged on a ONE MINUTE run to be completed by each successfully entered ute in the Deni Freighters Sports Arena.
  3. Each ute will be judged out of a possible score of 20 by several independent judges
  4. Judges will be looking for: driving skills & level of control; clean cut circles; number of circles in ONE MINUTE; number and execution of figure 8’s; crowd reaction and vehicle control.
  5. Judges will also take into account crowd reaction.
  6. The judges will also look for competitors respect to public safety. For example, if you lose your bearings due to dust you will score better if you re-adjust your position rather than risking being disqualified from contention if you hit the event fencing/barrier.
